I have defined the following Data Type:

   VFD_Motor : STRUCT
        RUN          : BOOL;
        STOP        : BOOL;

        FAULTED  : BOOL;
        SPEED      : REAL;

I now Created a Global Variable... Pump_Motor1 of Type VFD_Motor.

I would like to assign

      Pump_Motor1.RUN to Digital Output00 (PLC Digital Output Card..axc-f-2152-1/dio-1/OUT00)

      Pump_Motor1.FAULT to Digital Input1 (PLC Digital Output Card..axc-f-2152-1/dio-1/IN00)

     Pump_Motor1.SPEED to Analog Output1 (PLC Analog Output Card.. axc-f-2152/ai-1/IN01)

I tried to Tie Directly to the I/O Cards, but PLCNext Engineer does not allow the Pump_Motor1.xxxx to used on any Physical I/O Point.

I cannot use PORTs, as I have both Inputs and Outputs - there is no ability to use combined Inputs and Outputs on a single Structure.

Is there anyway to accomplish this Directly ?

Are there plans to include this fucntionality in the near future ?

Hi Peter,

I believe that it is currently not possible to make the direct connections you want, using only IEC code and PLCnext Engineer.

This may be possible by editing some XML configuration files directly on the PLC, and/or using a C++ program (instead of an IEC program) to implement the Pump function. If you are interested in exploring either of these options, please let me know.

Otherwise, I will check if there are plans to include this feature in PLCnext Engineer.

I asked the same question a while ago and this would really speed up configuration and minimize connection faults when you have a lot of similar setups.

Thank you for your reply.

Having this functionality directly in IEC is very important.

Regards,  Peter.
