Dear people,

I'm researching the PLCnext for my internship. The company asked me to research the added value of the PLCnext relative to conventional way Production-ICT(MES)<-->PLC/HMI/SCADA. I have already done some research about the architecture of the PLCnext. The external user component stands out for me because it has the capability to run a .net core framework. A MES service engine is already built on top of the .net framework, so it can probably run on the PLCnext. But how can the .net MES-application communicate intern with the PLC application? I read something about de GDS that it is accessible through a certain API. But I can't find any library that supports de GDS API for C#. Does anybody have any experience with this and can help me further?

Kind regards,

Bart Minten - student Industrial automation at the university of applied sciences at 'S-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
