I have a customer looking to do the following using PLCnext Engineer:

"We want to poll a 'keep alive' from the Cisco managed switches in the substations.  Is there a coding example we can borrow from?" This will be using SNMP polling.

Is there an example or solution we can offer for this? And is there an SNMP library available or on the roadmap?

Hello Josh,

on the one hand we have a the IT_Library in the PLCnext Store. This library offers function blocks for different IT applications like FTP and SNTP, but unfortunately SNMP is not implemented yet and has a low priority on the roadmap.

On the other hand in high level languages like C# or C++ its easy to implement the protocol on your own (lots of examples are available in the internet e.g. some C# examples) or even in PLCnext Engineer with IEC61131 and our UDP connect, send and receive function blogs it should be possible to implement the protocol.
